Positive Impact Project (PIP) 2023 Review

Since our inception in 1999, supporting the local community and the lives of those within it, has been a main priority for the team at Proparamedics and is a cause very close to our hearts.

It’s our mission to make a real difference to the community, not just by providing the highest quality care to our patients and their families, but by aiding local initiatives and organisations.

Throughout 2023, we gifted almost £27,000 in charitable donations and pro bono support to events, schools and organisations that required medical cover or training. The following gives a brief overview of just some of the events, initiatives and organisations that we have supported over the past year.

One such event was Northern Ireland’s first Blue Lights Education Day, which Proparamedics hosted at Conway Square in Newtownards over the summer, where hundreds of local school children were invited to meet members of the emergency services and learn the fundamentals of First Aid. The main aim behind the Blue Lights Education Day was to educate children on the importance of First Aid and to alleviate any anxiety when dealing with the emergency services, especially in the wake of the pandemic.

Not long after the Blue Lights Education Day came the launch of Proparamedics’ ProMediKids programme, which saw the team travelling to nurseries and primary schools across Northern Ireland to deliver First Aid workshops including Mental Health First Aid.

Also, over the summer, Proparamedics pledged its support to the ‘girls in blue,’ by becoming a sponsor of the Lisburn Ladies Football Club. Already providing event medical care to a number of sports, Proparamedics was delighted to contribute to the future growth and development of women’s football in the region.

Committed to promoting diversity and inclusion, Proparamedics became the first medical services provider to complete JAM Card training with the NOW Group, a social enterprise geared towards supporting individuals with autism and learning difficulties. Increasing accessibility was a huge goal for Proparamedics and the completion of JAM Card training means that our team will be better equipped to communicate with the more vulnerable members of our society.

Elsewhere, our 2023 Christmas charity partner is the People’s Kitchen, which will see the team collecting various supplies that will be donated to thousands of the most marginalised people in Belfast, including the homeless population.

We’re looking forward to continuing our support for the local community into 2024 and beyond – keep an eye on our website for the latest updates. If you have any queries, please contact: Teresa@proparamedics.com
